Breakfast comment on Sunday from Kim having read last night's blog that to a degree she suppoerted Jim's view when saying the ferrari engineering did not "light her candle" either.
We may not be hearing from them until later .... as by now they should be bobbing around on the Irish sea back to the UK slash Wales.
Did you catch up with Steve and Zoe in Rosslare and did anyone try my recommendation of the Lobster Pot Restaurant? I was actually in Rosslare when you passed through earlier in the week!
Great read, brings back the memories of the event plus your journey to the west. I love the shot in the river crossing the road or huge puddle, looked terrific.
Hi Alan - Jim and I were in the same B&B as Steve and Zoe and and the four of us joined Arnoud and Anushka in the Hotel they were staying in (St Helens) to eat. So will have to try the Lobster Pot next time!
Good stuff. Thats my neck of the woods for holidays and car stuff - a surprising trove of Lancia wrecks lay within just minutes of your discovery. Glad you all met up again. We also sent an emissary family to accompany Steve and Zoe at Brittas Bay. Cheers!
The Boys - Terry and Jim - the enthusiast and the map geek.
The Car - a 1982 2 Litre Lancia Beta Spider that has been extensively but sympathetically modified. It has an upgraded "fast road spec" engine with higher compression ratio and modified head but standard cams and standard twin choke webber carbs. It also has lowered and uprated suspension with Lancia Thema Turbo 15 inch wheels and the addition of power steering. It also has a new wiring loom which can be useful in a 27 year old Italian car!
The Jaunt - April 2009 to southern Ireland. Leaving England via Wales (Fishguard) and entering Eire through Rosslare. Two days touring around the Ring of Kerry, then two days near Wicklow.....and home.

ReplyDeleteCan we go back to the photos of the Montes and the scenery please!
ReplyDeleteOr I might go out and cut the grass instead!
I'm disappointed in you, Jim. How can you not be excited that they got a front wheel drive transverse V8 of that size into a Lancia?

I speak as one who has already cut the grass...
